Findlay Takes Down Chargers

On Saturday, October 8, The University of Findlay volleyball team came away from a hard fought match at Hillsdale College against the Chargers with a 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 27-25, 25-20) victory.  The win puts the Oilers at 12-5 on the season and 8-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Three Oilers reached the double digit kill mark in today's match.  Findlay was led by senior Hannah Tong who had a team high 17 kills and five total blocks.  She finished the match with a kill percentage of .314%. 

Sophomore Amanda Winner pounded out 13 kills and added 10 digs to record a double double.  Winner also showed off her serving skills with two aces.  Freshman Molly Hammersmith provided offensive support by smashing 11 kills.

Distributing the ball well for the Oilers was sophomore Hailee Olson.  She recorded 39 assists in the match and added two serving aces.

Junior Megan Wendel picked up two serving aces, which was tied for a team high in the match.  Sophomore Kara Scherger aided the defense with a team best 16 digs and junior Erika Roach helped the cause with 11 digs.

Senior Mallorie Kah led the Oilers at the net defensively with six total blocks.

The Oilers continue their road trip on Friday, October 14 in Aurora, Ill. for the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover.  The opponent and start time have yet to be determined.
