Greyhounds wear down Dragons 67-55

Tiffin University (0-2) hung with Indianapolis for most of their home opener but could not keep up with the Greyhounds down the stretch, as UIndy used a strong inside game to knock off the Dragons 67-55.

Indianapolis dominated the boards 42-22, with two players registering double-doubles. Nicole Anderson finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds while Martha Burse finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds along with 6 assists.They also held a 16-5 edge at the free throw line, making 17 more trips to the line than Tiffin.

TU shot just 37 percent in the game while UIndy used the inside game to shot 50 percent. TU could not get their outside game working, as they shot just 6 of 27 from beyond the arc.

TU led 13-12 at the end of the first quarter, battling back from a 10-0 deficit to start the game with a healthy 13-2 run to close out the opening frame. But the Greyhounds controlled quarter two, outscoring TU 17-12 to take a narrow 29-25 edge to halftime.

After another close third quarter that had the Greyhounds outpace TU 20-15, TU could not close the gap. They started out 6 points down early in the quarter but quickly fell behind by double digits and could not catch up.

Khala Downing led TU off the bench with 12 points while Deidre McKay had 11 points. Bre Nauman scored 6 points, leaving her 6 points short of 1000 for her career. Ali Schirmer and Kiley May also scored 6, while Allie Miller had 6 points with 7 rebounds.
