Bulldogs Outlast Oilers

The University of Findlay men's basketball team suffered a 79-73 loss to Ferris State University on Jan. 2 in Croy Gymnasium. The loss drops the Oilers record to 4-5 on the season with a 1-4 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Findlay shot 44.3 percent (27-of-61) from the floor in the loss while the Bulldogs connected on 51.7 percent (31-of-60) of their shot attempts. Ferris State also held a 40-33 advantage on the boards and blocked seven shots in the game.

Junior forward John Staley led the team with 15 points and four rebounds while sophomore guard Ricardo Smith contributed a career-high 14 points and five boards.

Freshman guard Elijah Kahlig added 13 points while junior guard Dylan Kaufman had 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Freshman forward Taren Sullivan recorded eight points off the bench for the Oilers as well.

Drew Lehman led the Bulldogs with 17 points while James Chappell had 15 points and ten boards.

The Oilers will host Grand Valley State University on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
