Kissimmee, Fla. -- The Wayne State University softball squad (4-7 overall) extended its winning streak to three games with a
10-0 five inning triumph over No. 34-Caldwell College (0-6 overall) Monday afternoon.

Sam Cain (Taylor, Mich. / Kennedy) improved to 2-5 on the year by hurling a two-hit shutout. She struck out three and walked one, while facing four batters over the minimum.
Offensively, the Warriors had three three-run innings (2nd, 4th and 5th).
Wayne State grabbed an early 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first. Junior right fielder
Alison Allen (Redford, Mich. / Farmington Hills Mercy) had an infielder single and went to second on a walk to junior third baseman
Rebecca Stanley (Waterloo, Ont. / Waterloo C.I.). A sacrifice bunt by junior first baseman
Rebecca Ryan (Westland, Mich. / Dearborn Divine Child) advanced both runners with Allen scoring on a sacrifice fly by sophomore catcher

WSU had five hits in the second inning and added three more runs to the scoreboard. Freshman second baseman
Nikki Fulton (Stratford, Ont. / St. Michael Catholic S.S.) had a one-out single, and freshman outfielder
Logan White (Brantford, Ont. / Johnson C.V.I.) and junior shortstop
Lauren Histed (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Utica) followed with back-to-back bunt singles to load the bases. Allen had a sacrifice fly plating Fulton, while Stanley and Ryan each contributed an RBI single.
Four more Warrior hits led to three fourth inning runs. Histed walked with one out and moved to third on a double by Allen. A single by Stanley scored Histed and, after a ground out, Omelanchuk delivered a two-run single.
In the fifth, Wayne State scored three times on one hit, a Cougar error and left three runners on base. Ryan had a two-out, two-run single scoring Fulton, who had walked and Histed, who had reached on a throwing error. A walk to freshman
Amanda Burnard (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth) loaded the bases, and sophomore center fielder
Steph Foreman (Cambridge, Ont. / Preston) drew a bases loaded walk scoring Allen, who had reached on a fielder's choice.
Kelly Schymanski (0-1) started in the circle for Caldwell and allowed seven earned runs on 10 hits in four innings with two walks and no strikeouts. Lindsay Truan pitched the fifth inning allowing three unearned runs on one hit and three walks.
The top three in Wayne State's line-up -- Allen, Stanley and Ryan -- combined to go 6-for-9 with four runs scored and six RBI.
