Oilers Sweep Warriors 3-0

The University of Findlay volleyball team hosted Wayne State University on Tuesday, November 1 in Croy Gymnasium for a battle of the top two teams in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division.  Findlay was able to avenge an early season loss to the Warriors with a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-20, 25-22).  With the win, the Oilers are now 18-7 on the season and sit atop the GLIAC South standings with an 11-3 record in conference play.

The Oilers success resulted from a balanced attack led by junior Nickyla Garverick.  Garverick led the team with 11 kills and also helped control the net defensively with four total blocks.

Fresh off her GLIAC South Player of the Week award, senior Hannah Tong contributed with eight kills and sophomore Amanda Winner pitched in on both sides with seven kills and seven digs.

Freshman Molly Hammersmith also showed some versatility for the Oilers with eight kills and four total blocks.  Senior Mallorie Kah led Findlay with five total blocks.

Sophomore Hailee Olson did an excellent job of distributing the ball all over the court as she finished the match with 33 assists, aided with defense with four total blocks and shared a team high two aces with junior Megan Wendel.  Wendel also led the team with eight digs.

The Oilers return to Croy Gymnasium on Friday, November 4 for another GLIAC matchup with Walsh Univeristy with a 7:00 p.m. scheduled start.
