Dragons hot streak continues with pair of wins

Tiffin University (9-10) continued its recent hot streak, winning for the 8th time in the last 10 games in dispatching Gannon 4-1 and Glenville State 12-1 in 5 innings at the Salem (Va.) Tournament.

TU used big innings to beat both teams. Against Gannon, TU broke a scoreless tie in the 6th with 4 runs, 3 of them unearned. After Alayna Lytle walked, Brooke Lambert reached on an error at third. Allyson Rock then followed with a single and RBI, with Lambert also scoring on an error by the right fielder.

After a Libby Crow single, Michelle Poe also singled for another 2 RBI.

In the bottom of the 6th, Gannon picked up an unearned run to make it 4-1 but could get no closer against Tiffany Snell, who picked up the victory with 7 innings of work. She scattered 7 hits and allowed no earned runs while fanning 4 and allowing just 2 walks.

TU, which managed just 3 hits in the game, was led by Poe's 2 RBI, while Allyson Rock also got an RBI.

Against Glenville State, TU exploded from the outset. Crow led off the 1st inning with a triple followed by a Kate-Lynn Urgowalk. On Jamie Sevenish's fielder's choice, Crow came in on an error by the catcher. Another fielder's choice and a ground out brought in two more runs, as TU made up for a minimum of hits in the inning with 3 walks and 3 stolen bases to take a 3-0 lead.

In the third inning, more GSC errors gave TU 2 more runs. Rock reached on an error at second. After Gabrielle Hess came in to pinch run, Hayley Kobie drilled a triple to knock her home. Lytle's ground out to first brought Kobie home and put TU up 5-0.

TU blew the game wide open in the 5th inning with 7 runs. TU loaded the bases on a Rock double, a Kobie walk, and an error on Lytle's ground ball. Sierra Besser-Paul then singled for 2 RBI.

An error in right field on Brooke Lambert's single allowed two more runs to score, but TU still wasn't done. A Crow walk followed by a single by Urgo loaded the bases again. Lambert didn't wait for a hit, coming home on a wild pitch. After Sevenish reached on an error at short, Rock followed with her second double of the inning, driving in the final two runs.

April Bennett finished off GSC in the bottom of the fifth, and had it in cruise control the entire game. She allowed just 2 hits in 5 innings, allowing one earned run while fanning 2 and walking 3.

Allyson Rock had a big game, stroking 2 doubles for 3 RBI, while Kobie also had a triple for 2 RBI. Crow had two hits with a triple, while Besser-Paul also had 2 RBI. Lambert added 2 RBI, while Sevenish and Lytle also drove in runs.
