DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's tennis squad fell, 5-4, to GLIAC opponent Ferris State in their first home match of the 2016-17 season at the WSU Multipurpose Indoor Facility on Saturday morning.

DOUBLES RESULTS
- Sophomore duo in
Liv Peisachovitz (Vaughan, Ont.) and
Dasha Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia) topped Teodora Stefanovic and Nika Hein, 8-4, at the first doubles flight, while seniors
Lauren Hughes (Detroit, Mich. / Southfield) and
Ashley Walker (Canton, Mich. / Salem) dropped a close, 9-7, match to Nicole Stay and Arien Kissinger at No. 2 doubles.
- Junior
Liz Ghellere (Ararangua, Brazil) and freshman
Julia Walz (Rastatt, Germany) lost, 8-4, to Amiena Houston and Nicole Meylor at the third doubles position.

SINGLES RESULTS
- Kuznetsova recorded a two-set win, 6-2, 6-4, over Hein at the second singles flight, while Ghellere posted a victory (7-5, 3-6, 7-6) against Houston at No. 3 singles.
- Hughes won the super tiebreaker, 10-8 (6-0, 2-6) versus Stay at the sixth singles position, while Walz lost in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 7-5, to Meylor at the fourth singles flight.
- Peisachovitz fell, 7-5, 6-7, 6-0, to Stefanovic at No. 1 singles, while sophomore
Astrid Ciellza garnered a two-set loss (6-2, 6-2) to Kissinger at the fifth singles position.

- The Warriors will host Grand Valley State on Oct. 2 at 10 a.m. inside the WSU Multipurpose Indoor Facility. WSU fell to GVSU, 7-2, last season. Â
