WINTER PARK, Fla -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (5-6) concluded its spring break trip to Florida with 9-0 loss to #13 Rollins (8-5) on Monday evening.
Freshman
Harvey Reed (Winchester, Hampshire, England) and sophomore
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) dropped their match at No. 3 doubles 8-4.
Redshirt senior
Gopinath Menta (Hyderabad, India) and junior Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France) were bested 8-5.
At No. 1 doubles, the duo of redshirt senior
Trey Keating (Troy, Mich.) and freshman
Luke Ruocco (Lewes, England) fell 9-7. Keating and Ruocco led 7-6 and 30-love but could not put the Tars away and Rollins went on to win the next three games.
At No. 1 singles, Fazyl Kechai fell to 10th-ranked Anton Bettink 6-1, 6-2. Reed dropped the fourth flight of singles 6-2, 6-2.
Ruocco lost 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6 singles. Carlson was topped 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.
Menta fell at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-2) and Keating lost to #28 Robin Marchione at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-7 (3-7), 10-7.
WSU begins GLIAC play against Tiffin on March 28 in Detroit beginning at 10 AM.
