CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (3-6) captured its first victory of the Spring on Saturday afternoon at Division I Chicago State, 4-3.
Freshman
Luke Ruocco (Lewes, England / Priory) secured the victory with a win at No. 3 singles, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4). Ruocco teamed up with
Trey Keating (Troy, Mich.) for a victory at No. 1 doubles 8-7 (7-5).
Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France / Martin Luther King) and
Gopinath Menta (Hyderabad, India / Bharatiya Vidya Bhavans) won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.
Harvey Reed (Winchester, Hampshire, England / Peter Symonds College) and
Clement Charriere (Marseille, France / Chevreul Blancarde) collected the doubles point with an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles.
At No. 1 singles, Fazyl Kechai won 6-4, 6-2. Charriere lost his match at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
Keating fell at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-3 and Reed fell at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 7-5.
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) won the No. 6 singles flight 6-3, 6-2.
WSU will begin its GLIAC schedule on Feb. 27th at Walsh.
