SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Wayne State University women's tennis team (14-5 overall) concluded spring break play with a 9-0 defeat at the hands of host #13-Saint Leo on Monday.
DOUBLES RESULTS
Junior Dasha Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia )and freshman Khadija Da-Silva (Burlington, Ont. / Robert Bateman S.S.) played the first flight, falling 8-4 to Maja Pindelska and Madeleine Gauthier.
In the second flight, seniors Liz Ghellere (Ararangua, Brazil) and Andreea Mitrache (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Warren Cousino) lost to Marta Vicens Miqueland Andrada Gordan
Freshmen Linda Liong and Brianna Douglas (Dayton, Ohio / Chaminade Julienne) fell in the third flight to Kristyna Jurkova and Sophie Vlietstra (8-4).
SINGLES RESULTS
Mitrache played in the first flight, falling 6-1, 6-1 to Marta Vicens Miquel.
Kuznetsova falling Jurkova to a 6-2, 6-7, 10-3 result in the second flight.
Da-Silva lost to Pindelska at No. 3 (7-6, 6-4).
At the fourth flight, Ghellere was defeated by Gauthier (6-3, 6-2).
Liong played Fabiola Cardena at No. 5, falling 6-3, 6-4.
In the final flight, Douglas was bested by Gordan 6-4, 7-5.
UP NEXT
After playing four matches in five days, the Warriors will take a 10-day break before retuning to action. Wayne State will travel across I-94 to Western Michigan on March 22 for a 6 p.m. meeting with the Broncos.
