Tiffin University (22-25, 10-14 GLIAC) could not contain Saginaw Valley State's offense, as the Cardinals scored 16 runs over 12 innings including 4 home runs in falling 8-2 and 8-0 in five innings.

In the opener, Kimmy Reynolds pitched 7 innings but allowed 13 hits and 6 earned runs along with 5 strikeouts and 3 home runs in taking the loss.

Trailing 3-0 in the third inning, Jamie Sevenish singled, stole second, and scored on Lindsay Graves's double to get TU on the board.

An inning later, Gabrielle Hess drilled a home run to bring TU to within 3-2. They threatened to do more, as Amanda Rock walked, Chloe Swaisgood singled and Sevenish followed with another single to load the bases with just one out. But a pop out to short and a ground out to second ended the threat.

Trailing 4-2 in the 7th inning, the Cardinals blew the game open by scoring 4 runs.

In the nightcap, the Cardinals scored 5 runs in the first inning off starter Tiffany Snell, who lasted just one inning and allowed 3 earned runs. April Bennett came on in relief, pitching 4 innings and allowing 3 more earned runs but the game was never close, as TU managed just one soft single in the game.

Saginaw Valley scored 3 more runs in the 4th inning to give them an 8-run cushion and end the game in five innings.
