Volleyball Drops Crossover Finale

Wayne State lost in straights to Cedarville.

AURORA, Ill. -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (11-9 Overall) were swept by Cedarville (11-11) on Saturday afternoon to conclude the 10th annual Midwest Regional Crossover.

The 56-match event is the nation's largest collegiate volleyball tournament in one venue. Wayne State is 14-17 all-time at the Crossover event.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cedarville led the opening set 4-1 but a combo block from Hannah Moore (Louisville, Ky. / Assumption) and Grace Frazee (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) tied the game at 4-4.  Michelle Asiedu (Holland, Ohio / Springfield) gave WSU an 8-6 lead with a kill but the Yellow Jackets rallied to take a 14-9 lead and not look back on their way to a 25-20 victory.

- The Warriors led the second set 10-6 after a CU attacking error.  However, Cedarville continued to have the answers and led 18-14 and would win again by a score of 25-20.

- The Green & Gold trailed 10-7 after a point from Natalie Breault (Bad Axe, Mich.).  The Warriors won four straight points capped by a kill from Moore to pull within three at 17-14.  Consecutive CU errors gave the Warriors a 22-21 advantage but WSU dropped the final four points as CU completed the sweep with a 25-22 set-three victory.

LEADING THE WARRIORS
- Hailey Richardson (New Boston, Mich. / Huron) finished with a team-high 12 kills, while Breault tallied 24 assists.
