AURORA, Ill. -- The Wayne State University volleyball team (11-9 Overall) were swept by Cedarville (11-11) on Saturday afternoon to conclude the 10th annual Midwest Regional Crossover.
The 56-match event is the nation's largest collegiate volleyball tournament in one venue. Wayne State is 14-17 all-time at the Crossover event.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cedarville led the opening set 4-1 but a combo block from
Hannah Moore (Louisville, Ky. / Assumption) and
Grace Frazee (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) tied the game at 4-4.Â
Michelle Asiedu (Holland, Ohio / Springfield) gave WSU an 8-6 lead with a kill but the Yellow Jackets rallied to take a 14-9 lead and not look back on their way to a 25-20 victory.
- The Warriors led the second set 10-6 after a CU attacking error. However, Cedarville continued to have the answers and led 18-14 and would win again by a score of 25-20.
- The Green & Gold trailed 10-7 after a point from
Natalie Breault (Bad Axe, Mich.). The Warriors won four straight points capped by a kill from Moore to pull within three at 17-14. Consecutive CU errors gave the Warriors a 22-21 advantage but WSU dropped the final four points as CU completed the sweep with a 25-22 set-three victory.

Hailey Richardson (New Boston, Mich. / Huron) finished with a team-high 12 kills, while Breault tallied 24 assists.
