The Warriors improve to 18-5 overall after 3-1 road victory.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Wayne State University volleyball program (18-5, 9-3 GLIAC) got back on the right track at Ohio Dominican (8-13, 3-8 GLIAC) by winning in four sets over the Panthers.  Wayne State is just one win shy of matching its most wins in the last 17 seasons (19 wins in 2009).

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Kills from Mikayla Shell (Croswell, Mich. / Croswell-Lexington) and Brittany Guldan (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Walled Lake Central) gave Wayne State a 11-6 advantage in the opening set.  Michelle Asiedu (Holland, Ohio / Springfield) kept WSU on top 15-10 with a kill of her own.  However, ODU would tie the match at 20-20 and eventually win 25-21.

• A Hannah Moore (Louisville, Ky. / Assumption) kill put WSU up 10-4 in the second set.  The lead grew to 17-10 after a point from Avery Punches (Rockford, Mich.).  Emily Norscia (Livonia, Mich. / Livonia Churchill) notched a kill to pull WSU within two points of winning the set at 23-16.  The Panthers trimmed the deficit to one at 23-22 before WSU was able to secure the 25-22 win.

• The Green & Gold led the third set 10-6 after a kill from Norscia.  The lead reached five points at 19-14 and WSU continued to lead 24-22.  ODU went on a 3-0 run to take a 25-25 lead but the Warriors won the final three points to take a 2-1 match lead.

• The home side won the first four points of the fourth set.  The Panthers continued to control the game and led 13-8.  A kill from Norscia and three straight ODU attack errors pulled WSU within a point, 13-12.  WSU completed its comeback and tied the set at 18-18 before taking a 24-22 lead.  ODU tied the set at 24-24 but kills from Guldan and Norscia prevented the Warriors from dropping their third straight match.

FROM COACH KOTH
"It was a gutty road win for the Warriors.  ODU competed extremely hard but our serving and competitive effort at the important times was the difference."
