Dragons fall down stretch 70-64

Tiffin University (4-10, 2-7 GLIAC) battled back from a big early deficit and played catch up throughout the night but could not overcome Lake Erie's free throws down the stretch, falling to the Storm 70-64.

After falling behind 11-0 to start the game, the Dragons rallied, pulling off a 13-4 run to get back in it by the end of the first quarter.

The game remained close throughout the second quarter, as Lake Erie held a slim 28-26 lead at halftime.

Neither team was shooting well at the half, as both teams were under 36 percent. Lake Erie held a 28-16 rebounding edge, including a 12-4 scoring edge in the paint.

The game continued to be a nailbiter, as Lake Erie held onto a one shot lead for most of the second half. With the score tied 57-57 with 2:37 to play, the Storm maintained their composure, hitting 9 free throws down the stretch to close the door on the Dragons.

TU shot just 33 percent in the game while the Storm finished with 41 percent. They controlled the paint, outrebounding TU 50-35 and holding a 22-16 scoring edge inside. Lake Erie's 19 turnovers led to 24 Dragons' points but it wasn't enough.

Deidre McKay led TU with 22 points, including 5 of 10 from three point along with 4 assists. Bre Nauman had 15 points with 7 rebounds, while Allie Miller also had 12 points with 5 rebounds. Kristen Massey added 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.
