Kissimmee, Fla. -- The fourth-ranked Wayne State University softball team (12-2 overall) extended its winning streak to nine games with 9-0 five inning triumph over 26th-ranked Minnesota State-Mankato (9-4 overall) Saturday morning in the opening game of the 2010 Rebel Spring Games for the Warriors.

WSU scored seven times in the bottom of the first as 11 batters came up against Maverick starter Kendra Huettl.  Senior shortstop Jaci Banton (Richmond Hill, Ont. / Cardinal Carter) had a one-out single while sophomore third baseman Rebecca Stanley (Waterloo, Ont. / Waterloo C.I.) and redshirt freshman catcher Brittany Omelanchuk (Brooklin, Ont. / Wilson S.S.) followed with base hits to load the bases.  After a fielder's choice left the bases loaded, senior outfielder Stephanie LeClair (Kitchener, Ont. / Forest Heights C.I.) laced a two-run double to left center.

The Warriors tacked on two more runs in the second as Foreman walked with the bases loaded, and Histed's fielder's choice plated another run.

Casey Hanes (Richmond, Va. / Douglas Freeman) went the distance in the cirlce for WSU to improve to 9-1.  She struck out 10 and walked two while stranding seven MSU-Mankato runners.  Huettl (5-2) allowed eight hits and nine earned runs in 1 1/3 innings with three walks.  Reliever Jenna Peterson surrendered two hits and no runs in 2 2/3 innings with three strikeouts.
