Oilers Lose Doubleheader Against Northwood University

The University of Findlay softball team lost a doubleheader against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Northwood University on Sunday, April 13 at Anderson Field.  The Oilers were defeated in the first game 11-5 and fell 7-3 in the second game. 

In the first game, Tawna Whited picked up the loss on the mound, giving up eleven runs with four earned and striking out five hitters in seven innings.  Whited contributed an RBI on the offensive end. 

The Timberwolves took a 9-5 lead through five innings and the Oilers bats couldn't muster a comeback.

Tori Allen led the offense for the Oilers by finishing the game with an RBI double, a single and one run scored.  Courtney Dwyer added an RBI single in the contest while Emily Stewart and Megan Turner each had an RBI in the contest. 

In the second game, Nicole Motuza picked up the loss on the mound, giving up six runs with two earned and striking out three hitters in four innings. 

The Timberwolves took a 6-2 lead through five innings and unfortunately the Oilers were unable to capitalize on their hitting.

Tori Allen led the offense for the oilers with a two-run home run while Megan Turner added a solo shot in the contest.  Jackie Messersmith added a single and one run scored. 

The Oilers, who are now 14-13 on the season with a 6-10 mark in GLIAC play, will travel to Cleveland, Ohio on Tuesday, April 15 to face Notre Dame (Ohio) in a two-game set beginning at 3:30 p.m.
