Box Score

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio - Freshman Cydney Bartlett scored with 1:05 left in overtime to help host Ursuline College get past Urbana University, 12-11, on Tuesday (April 14) afternoon.

With the win, the Arrows snapped their three-game losing streak and improved to 2-9 overall while Urbana dipped to 1-10.

It was a close game early on as the teams rotated scores. Freshman Celeste Friel put UC on the board first and Urbana's Katie Barnhart answered 2:12 later. Bartlett scored 59 seconds after that and then Taylor Anderson tied it at two.

Junior Natalie Pachinger scored to give UC a one-goal lead but that only lasted a little more than three minutes.

The Arrows finally went on a little run (5-1) to close the first half. Goals from sophomore Maddie Kipp, Bartlett, two more from Friel and one from sophomore Breana Cervantes with :06 left in the half put the Arrows ahead 8-4 at the break.

Urbana scored on a free position shot exactly 10 minutes into the second period but Kipp answered right away to extend the lead back to four at 9-5. Two more goals from UU's Barnhart cut the deficit to two and then Bartlett made it a 10-7 game with 7:26 remaining in regulation.

The Blue Knights ended the second period on a 3-0 run with two more goals from Barnhart and another strike from Taylor Henderson. It was Barnhart who tied the game at 10 with just 14 seconds to go.

UC kept its composure and re-gained momentum when Pachinger scored 49 seconds into the bonus period. Barnhart scored with her team down a player after a yellow card was issued to the bench to tie it at 11 and then Bartlett won it for the Arrows with 65 seconds left in OT.

Ed Karasek's team outshot Urbana 43-24 and Urbana's keeper Paige Waqa made 21 saves while UC sophomore Lauren Cole had 10 saves - none bigger than one that came with 48 seconds left and her team holding onto a one-goal lead. Cole was clutch on Tuesday afternoon.

Ursuline will host another non-conference game on Thursday (April 16) when the College of Wooster comes to town. That game will start at 5:00 p.m. and can be heard on the Ursuline College Sports Network.
