DETROIT -- Four starters scored in double figures as the Wayne State University women's basketball squad posted an 83-37 exhibition triumph over the University of Michigan Dearborn Wednesday evening at the WSU Fieldhouse.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
After the Wolverines scored the first points of the game, on a field goal by India Grissom, the Warriors tallied the next six points on two free throws and a lay-up by sophomore Taylor Thompson (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and a lay-up by junior Shea Tripp (Jackson, Mich. / Michigan Center).

Following another bucket by Grissom, WSU went on a 10-0 run to lead 16-4 at the mid-point of the opening stanza.  Senior Kate McArthur (Warren, Mich. / Cousino) contributed five of the 10 points.

The Wayne State defense held UMD without a field goal for the final 7:45 of the first period to lead 25-6 after 10 minutes.

Second Quarter
WSU recorded the first six points of the second stanza before another basket by Grissom.

The Warriors out-scored the guests 31-12 in the second period, and were led by seven points apiece from senior Becca Fugate (Holly, Mich.) and junior Alyssa Leister (St. Louis, Mich. / Alma).

Wayne State had a 56-18 lead at intermission.

Third Quarter
The Wolverines won the third period by a score of 10-9.  Maya Barakat totalled four of her seven points in the stanza.  Thompson led WSU with three points in the quarter.

Wayne State led 65-28 after 30 minutes.

Fourth Quarter
The Warriors doubled up the guests 18-9 over the final 10 minutes.  Thompson and sophomore Thaya Luse (Elburn, Ill. / Example Academy) each made two baskets in the period.
