The Malone University men's soccer team fell at home to NCAA Division II #11 Northwood University (MI) by the final score of 5-1 on Friday night.
The Timberwolves' Adam Thomas passed to James DeCosemo in front of the net to register the first goal of the game, putting them ahead 1-0 with 17-minutes remaining in the first half.
Northwood would tally another goal at the 35:01 marker to take a 2-0 advantage. The score would stay 2-0 at the half.
The Timberwolves continued with the momentum in the second half, scoring three more goals at the 46:14, 56:07, and 64:54 markers.
With 20-minutes remaining in the game, Malone's
Robert Nemes drilled a shot over the goalkeeper's head to put the Pioneers on the board, but that wasn't enough as the visitors took the 5-1 victory.
The Pioneers will take on Saginaw Valley State University (MI) on Sunday, October 11
th with a 12:30 p.m. kick-off at Pioneer Field. Sunday will also be a Day With The Pioneers, where Malone will welcome the Canton-Akron Soccer Club to Pioneer Field.
