The Tiffin University women's basketball team got back on the right side of the scoreboard against Lake Superior State University on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Lakers 76-66 behind the game high 24 points from Ali Schirmer.

After scuffling offensively in the 2nd half of Thursday night's loss to Ferris State University, the Dragons found a way to consistently put points on the board on Saturday afternoon. Tiffin put together a solid 1st quarter, scoring 16 points while holding the Lakers to 15. In the 1st half Tiffin hit 46.4% of their shot attempts, thanks in large part to a 20 point second quarter. Tiffin took control of the opening half with a solid defensive effort in the 2nd quarter, holding Lake Superior State to only nine points. The Lakers offense had little success against Tiffin, connecting on only 32% of their field goals. At the halftime buzzer, Tiffin held a 36-24 lead with 18 of Tiffin's points coming from beyond the arc.

The Dragons were led by the nine points from Aida Santana Martin on 3 for 3 shooting from the field.

The Lakers kept pace with Tiffin in the 3rd quarter, but they did little to cut into their deficit on the scoreboard. Tiffin scored 23 points in the quarter, almost tying their entire output from Thursday night's 2nd half. The Lakers managed 22 points, and headed to the 4th quarter down 59-46.

The Lakers outscored Tiffin in the final quarter 20-17, with Tiffin not allowing the Lakers to sustain a run or gain any momentum. The Dragons finished the 2nd half at 52.2% from the field as they earned their 3rd win of the season 76-66.

Ali Schirmer scored 24 points for Tiffin on 7 of 15 shooting from the field and a 8 for 8 performance from the free throw line. Cynthia Concepcion was the only other Dragon in double figures, scoring 12 points off the bench and finishing 8 for 8 from the free throw line. As a team Tiffin hit 50% of their three point tries, and were 19 of 22 from the charity stripe.

Tiffin moves to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in GLIAC play.
