MIDLAND, Mich. -- The fourth-seeded Wayne State University women's tennis team (9-2 overall, 7-2 GLIAC) will advance to the GLIAC semifinals after earning a 4-2 win over No. 5-seeded Ferris State (4-6 overall, 4-5 GLIAC).
DOUBLES RESULTS
Senior
Dasha Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia) and redshirt sophomore
Khadija Da-Silva (Burlington, Ont.) swept Nika Hein and Silvia Verebes at No. 1 doubles, 6-0.
At No. 3 doubles, senior
Astrid Ciellza (Tecumseh, Ont.) and sophomore
Stephanie Stamate (Windsor, Ont.) defeated Amiena Houston and Isabela Paixao, 6-2.
Freshman
Laura Cazacu (London, England) and sophomore
Linda Liong (Tanjung Kidurong, Malaysia) did not finish their No. 2 doubles match against Nicole Meyer and Sam Stephenson before the other two WSU pairs took the win.
SINGLES RESULTS
Kuznetsova fell short at No. 1 singles in her match against Hein (6-2, 6-4).
Cazacu pulled a win over Paixao at the second flight (6-2, 6-0).
Liong defeated Verbes at No. 3 singles (6-1, 6-2).
At No. 4 singles, Da-Silva won her match against Brittany Lavenant (6-1, 7-5).
After splitting sets at No. 5 singles against Meyer, sophomore
Tanja Skalda (Prien Am Chiemsee, Germany) retired due to injury (6-2, 3-6, ret.).
Freshman
Carla Jewell (Hobart, Ind.) wasn't able to finish her No. 6 singles match against Patricia Martin Gomez before the other flights finished it off.

The Warriors will compete in the GLIAC semifinals on Saturday, Oct. 27, against Grand Valley State University.
