The Tiffin University women's soccer team fell in another one goal game on Monday, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Lewis University Flyers.

The Dragons and Flyers were neck and neck in almost every statistical category throughout the first half, but a goal in the 32nd minute by the Flyers gave them a 1-0 lead. Tiffin played hard in the half, firing six shots and collecting four corner kicks. Twice Tiffin was denied by the opposing keeper in the 1st half, heading to the midway point in the match down 1-0.

The Flyers came out on the attack quickly in the 2nd half, netting a goal in the 47th minute to take a 2-0 lead. The Dragons kept firing away at the Flyers' keeper, and in the 65th minute they broke through. A long pass from Sierra Besecker setup Adrianna Currie inside the box, and Curry did the rest, lobbing a shot to the upper corner of the goal to give Tiffin their first tally of the day. Lewis controlled the ball towards the latter stages of the game, holding Tiffin off the board to preserve a 2-1 win.

The Dragons fired 15 shots in total, with five coming on goal. Tiffin keeper Samantha Ortenzi took the loss, collecting five saves. The goal by Currie is her first of the season and the assist by Besecker is her first of 2017.

The Dragons get a much needed rest after playing three games in five days. Tiffin will be back in action this coming Friday, hitting the road for a match against Roberts Wesleyan.
