The Malone University softball team fell on the road to GLIAC opponent Northwood University (MI) by the final scores of 3-2 and 10-2 on Saturday afternoon.

After playing five doubleheaders on the road this week, Malone will return home for a doubleheader against Ohio Dominican University on Tuesday.  Game one against the Panthers is slated to start at 3:00 p.m.

**The Pioneers had been slated to resume their halted game against Tiffin on Tuesday (prior to their doubleheader against ODU), but the resumption of that contest against TU has been postponed.**

Game One Recap:

The Pioneers would start the game with the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first due to a fielding error by Northwood's right fielder.

The Timberwolves tallied a run in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game at 1-1.

The next three and a half innings would be defensive battles between both teams, but Northwood broke through in the bottom of the fifth inning to collect their second run, taking the 2-1 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Timberwolves gathered another run to extend their lead to 3-1.

An RBI single from Emily Isla cut the deficit 3-2 in the top of the seventh inning, keeping the Pioneers' hopes alive. With two outs and the bases loaded, Malone had an opportunity to win the game, but unfortunately Kerri Manley struck out swinging, giving the hosts the 3-2 victory.

Mikayla Fowler finished the game going 2-for-4 at the plate, notching two runs scored, while adding a double.

Isla went 2-for-4 at the plate and tallied one RBI.

Game Two Recap:

Northwood registered three runs in the top of the second inning to take the early 3-0 advantage.

An RBI single by Caley Ritts would give Malone their first run of the game to make it 3-1 in the bottom of the second inning.

The Timberwolves would notch four runs in the top of the third inning and one in the fourth inning to increase the lead to 8-1.

Malone would collect another run off of Alexa Holztrager's fly out to left field, allowing Ritts to score the Pioneers' second run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Northwood's Ashley Lynn collected the RBI single in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 10-2.

Malone was unable to collect any runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, giving Northwood their second win on the day.

Ritts went 1-for-2 at the plate, tallied one run scored and one RBI.
