Oilers Fall In Regular Season Finale

The University of Findlay volleyball team wrapped up regular season competition at Ashland University with an intense five set match with the Eagles.  The Oilers were unable to take down the host and suffered a 3-2 (25-22, 22-25, 26-24, 15-25, 10-15) defeat.  The Oilers, who won their third straight GLIAC South title, end the regular season with a record of 21-8 and fall to 13-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Findlay was led by a balanced attack that featured three Oilers reaching the double digit kill mark.  Senior Hannah Tong led the way with 22 kills and three total blocks.  Sophomore Amanda Winner registered back-to-back games with a double-double as she finished with 14 kills and 11 digs.

Junior Nickyla Garverick was active on both sides of the net as she contributed with 13 kills and a team high six blocks.  Senior Mallorie Kah also helped control the net and pitched in with six total blocks.

Sophomore Hailee Olson was responsible for the balanced offensive attack.  She distributed the ball all over the court to accumulate 47 assists and also picked up five total blocks.

Sophomore Kara Scherger handled the back end of the defense with a team high 18 digs.  Junior Megan Wendel aided Scherger's effort by adding 10 digs and led the team with three aces.

The Oilers have clinched the 2nd seed in the GLIAC Tournament and will return to action on Wednesday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. to host Lake Erie in the quarterfinals.
