Tiffin University (12-11) broke out the big bats in a doubleheader sweep of Seton Hill, posting a 4-1 victory with runs late and then exploding for 14 runs in a 14-4 nightcap win.
In the opener, Kimmy Reynolds got the win, tossing 7 innings and allowing just one run on 4 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks, but the Dragons did not bust through until the 6th inning.
With Sierra Besser-Paul on base, Alayna Lytle and Brooke Lambert followed with singles to load the bases. Libby Crow then broke the scoreless deadlock with a single for TU's first run, followed by Samantha Ringwalt's single and RBI and Jamie Sevenish's 2-RBI double to give TU their final runs.
Sevenish had a big game, tallying 4 hits with a double for 2 RBI, while Crow also had 2 hits and an RBI. Hayley Kobie had a double, and Ringwalt also had an RBI.
In the finale, TU scored in multiple innings and finally blew the game wide open with a 7-run 7th inning. They also totaled 14 hits in the game.
Trailing 2-0 after the first inning, TU started their offensive outburst in the 2nd inning. Following a Ringwalt single and a Kobie walk, Besser-Paul followed with a run-scoring single to make it 2-1.
In the third, Kate-Lynn Urgo and Sevenish singled, leading to an RBI double from Ringwalt. Besser-Paul then continued her hot streak with a double for 2 RBI as TU took a 4-2 lead.
Brooke Lambert expanded TU's lead with a solo home run in the 4th inning, while TU kept the runs coming in the 5th inning. Lytle walked and was then sacrificed to second. After a Libby Crow single, Michelle Poe ripped a double for 2 RBI, pushing TU's lead to 7-3.
TU completely blew the game open in the 7th inning. Lambert doubled and then scored on an error by the catcher on a sacrifice. After Crow stole second base, Urgo then walked. Sevenish then singled for an RBI. Following Sevenish's stolen base and a hit batter for Ringwalt, Kobie drew a walk to drive in a run. Gabrielle Hess singled for an RBI, followed by Sydney Priest's RBI single. An error in right field on Devyn Trifari's line drive brought in another run, and TU finished the scoring when McKenzie Frame walked to bring in another run.
Tiffany Snell got the win, opening with 5 innings of work and allowing 2 earned runs on 8 hits. April Bennett finished up the game with 2 innings of work, allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits.
Ringwalt had 3 hits with a double and RBI, while Sevenish had 2 hits for an RBI. Besser-Paul had 2 hits with a double for 3 RBI, while Lambert had a double and home run. Poe also had a double for 2 RBI.
