Findlay Swept in Series vs. Walsh

The University of Findlay baseball team failed to prevent the sweep as they dropped the third game of their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) three game series at Walsh University on April 6th by a final of 3-1. The loss dropped the Oilers to 8-16 overall and 5-9 in GLIAC play.

The Cavaliers jumped out to an early lead as they connected for seven hits in the first three innings of play but only scored single runs in the first and third innings, making the score 2-0, although the damage could have been much worse.

The lone run of the game for the Oilers came in the top of the fifth inning as Michael Louis reached on an error by the shortstop to begin the frame. Tyler Donaldson, the next batter, had the same result as the shortstop made another error, putting runners on first and third with no outs. Louis scored on a groundout by Jordan Garcia. However, that is all the offense Findlay would muster and they would go the reminder of the game with only one more hit, a Peter Yorgen single in the seventh.

Walsh added another run in the bottom of the fifth, bringing their lead to 3-1, the score that would end up being the final.

Jon Walker took the loss on the bump as he went 6.1 innings and allowed three runs on 11 hits. He walked one.

The Oilers will be back on the diamond this Wednesday, April 9th as they take on GLIAC foe Wayne State University slated to begin at 2:00pm at Fifth Third Field at the Marathon Diamonds.
