The Tiffin University men's basketball team had a field day in Houghton, Michigan on Saturday afternoon, putting on a shooting clinic in their 18-point victory. The Dragons connected on 60.8% of their field goal attempts which is a new single game team record for field goal percentage in a game.

Tiffin roared out of the gate, taking an 11-3 lead in mere minutes thanks to Justin Miller's three triples in less than five minutes of action. The Huskies closed the gap, using a 9-4 run to make it a 15-12 lead for Tiffin at the midway point of the opening half. Tiffin didn't flinch, responding with a 10-3 run to hold a 25-15 lead with eight minutes remaining before halftime. Tiffin continued to keep the Huskies on a leash, outscoring Michigan Tech 17-12 over the final seven minutes of action to hold a comfortable 42-27 lead at the break.

The Dragons were efficient in the half, nailing 16 of 26 field goal attempts, 5 of 12 three point attempts, and held a 17-11 rebounding advantage. Austin Adams set the pace for Tiffin in the 1st half, scoring 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting from the field. Justin Miller also chipped in with 11 points in the opening half, making a splash from the arc with 75% shooting from three.

Tiffin kept the Huskies at a distance as the 2nd half opened, holding a 17-point lead at 53-36 at the first media timeout. It was more of the same over the next five minutes of action as the Dragons displayed their offensive flexibility by hitting from the three point line, the charity stripe, and from the field. With the 17-point lead still intact at the second media timeout, Tiffin went to work on creating more separation. A pair of free throws by Shane Waldon, and back-to-back layups by Austin Adams and Alex Brown gave Tiffin a 21-point lead and forced the Huskies to call a timeout at the 07:17 mark. The Dragons muzzled Michigan Tech for the remainder of the game, heading to the final horn with an 86-68 victory in tow.

Tiffin's hot shooting in the 1st half was no fluke, as they backed it up with a 15 of 25 performance in the 2nd half. The Dragons did an excellent job in the ball control department, committing only 10 miscues, the 2nd fewest in a game this year. The 2nd half was the Alex Brown show, scoring 14 points on 6 of 7 shooting from the field.

All five of Tiffin's starters scored in double digits, with Alex Brown leading Tiffin with 20 points on 9 of 11 shooting. It is the 4th game this year Alex has netted 20 points or more. Austin Adams filled the box score with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. Justin Miller chipped in with 16 points, and Shane Waldon and Austin Schaub each scored 10 points. Terrell Mabins was a nice contributor off the bench, posting eight points, two assists, and two steals.

Tiffin moves to 5-9 overall and 1-6 in the GLIAC.
