Dragons Scuttle Lakers With Sweep

The Tiffin University volleyball team kept the train rolling on Saturday, defeating the Lake Superior State Lakers 3-0, 25-16, 25-14, 25-19.

The Dragons, having defeated Saginaw Valley State a day ago, kept the momentum rolling in the Upper Peninsula. In the 1st set, the Dragons rolled from the start, jumping out to an 11-0 lead. Tiffin hit at a .345 clip, committing only four attack errors. After taking set one, 25-16, TU kept the heat on the Lakers, hitting at a .588 clip in the 2nd set. Tiffin scored 10 of the first 13 points in the 2nd set, en route to a 25-14 win. The 3rd set was the closest of the bunch, with the Lakers having an opportunity to take the lead, trailing 12-11. That was not to be, as Tiffin motored home on the wings of a 5-0 run to defeat Lake Superior State University 25-19.

As a unit, Tiffin finished with a .363 hitting percentage, seven blocks, and six service aces. Individually, Olivia Cobb and Kasey Adelsperger led the charge with eight kills each. Emily Weithman collected 31 assists, and Danielle Hicks assisted on four blocks.

The victory moves the Dragons to 9-6 overall and 3-4 in GLIAC competition.
