The UIndy football team (6-5, 5-5 GLIAC) capped an exciting season with a 31-17 win over visiting Ohio Dominican Saturday afternoon at Key Stadium.  The victory secured the Greyhounds' first winning season since 2007.

The Greyhounds had the Panthers (2-8, 2-8) down by double-digits for the final  42 minutes of the contest.

UIndy's first scoring drive started six minutes into the game at the Greyhound 45-yard line.  The home team drove to the ODU 20 before a Panther sack brought up 4th and 16.

Just outside of field goal range, the Hounds opted to go for it on 4th and long.  The gamble paid off as Chris Mills dumped it off to Klay Fiechter for a 23-yard gain to set up 1st and goal.  Two plays later, the drive was punctuated by a four-yard touchdown run by Paul Corsaro.

The next 17 Greyhound points came off ODU mistakes, starting with a forced fumble by the Indianapolis defense that set up a 37-yard field goal from Aaron Puntarelli.

Moments later, the Greyhound punt return team made a big play, as the rush up front pushed a Panther blocker into the punt.  The official result was a team blocked punt that results in a two-yard boot.

At 2nd and 8 from the visitor 22, Mills found Fiechter in the flat.  The true freshman showcased his skills on the play, using his speed to get to the corner and then showing off his power to break tackles at the goal line and punch it in.

On the ensuing Ohio Dominican drive, Max Davis snagged his first career interception on a bobbled would-be catch, again giving the Hounds good field position.  Corsaro's second TD capped the series and the first half scoring, as the Greyhounds took a 24-0 lead into the locker room.

Things got a little better for Ohio Dominican in the second half, initially anyway, as the visitors managed to get on the board quickly.

The Panthers finally got deep into Greyhound territory, moving the ball past the UIndy 30 for the first time on the opening drive of the second half.  ODU didn't stop until fullback Nate Weeks cashed in from a yard out, breaking a scoreless drought of over 36 minutes.

Later, Ohio Dominican tacked on a field goal to make it 10 unanswered points and pull within two touchdowns.

That would be as close as the Panthers would get, however, as UIndy responded with a six-play, 50-yard drive, culminating in another short-yardage touchdown from Corsaro.  The drive started with a 28-yard reception by Ryan Forney.

Forney finished with career high 124 yards receiving, helping Mills to a 249-yard day.  The Greyhound QB went 17-for-24 passing with one touchdown and zero interceptions.

Defensively, four Greyhounds amassed double-digit tackle totals, led by Mike Dum's game-best 17.  Dum added a fumble recovery on a strip by Demetreius Wilson.

Notes:  Greyhound seniors Alex Byrnes, Dustin Burford, Brelin Duncan, Tyran Fakes, Eric Quintana, Craig Ray and Dustin Tyler were all recognized before the game … UIndy's final record of 6-5 marked its first winning season since 2007 … Corsaro finished the season with a team-high eight TDs, all on the ground.  His three-touchdown day was the second by a Greyhoud this season (Joumeel McLaurine vs. KWC) … Forney ended his junior season with three straight 100-yard receiving games … Forney and Mar'Quone Edmonds each finished with over 700 yards receiving, becoming the first UIndy tandem to do so since 2004 (Kevin Sanford & Justin Russell).
