The Tiffin University women's basketball team went tick-for-tack with the Wayne State Warriors on Saturday afternoon, but a 21-10 3rd quarter scoring difference led to Tiffin's demise.

Both teams started the game on a fairly steady offensive pace with the Warriors holding a three point lead at 18-15 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Dragons defense came to play in the 2nd quarter, holding the Warriors to 13 points. Tiffin's offense poured in another 15 points, and after a half of play the Warriors took a slim 31-30 lead to halftime.

The Dragons hit 46.8% of their 1st half field goal attempts, and 4 of 13 three-point attempts. Tiffin held Wayne State to 2 of 7 shooting from beyond the arc, and out rebounded the Warriors 17-16.

Wayne State stepped on the gas in the 3rd quarter, netting 21 points. Tiffin's offense hit a cold spell, producing only 10 points, and at the end of the 3rd quarter the Warriors held a 51-40 lead. The Dragons gave great effort in the final quarter, closing the gap to five points with 37 seconds remaining. Tiffin kept pushing forward, but were unable to climb out of their hole as they fell 66-59.

Ali Schirmer was the lone Dragon in double figures, netting 17 points. Aida Santana Martin finished with 9 points and six rebounds, and Madison Jackson led Tiffin with four assists.

Tiffin falls to 7-15 overall and 3-11 in the GLIAC.
