The Malone University volleyball team clinched a spot in the upcoming GLIAC postseason tournament by defeating visiting Ohio Dominican University in a five-set contest in Malone's Osborne Hall on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Malone closed out the regular season with an overall record of 15-14 and a GLIAC mark of 11-7 while Ohio Dominican is currently at 12-15 overall and 10-8 in the conference.

The two squads took each other to the limit as Malone posted the dramatic 26-24, 18-25, 25-23, 11-25, 15-7 victory to earn the likely #6 seed in the eight-team GLIAC event that will begin on Wednesday.

With the first-round contests being held at the home sites of the top four seeds (#8 at #1, #7 at #2, #6 at #3 and #5 at #4), the Pioneers will likely face the University of Findlay, although official pairings will not be released until Sunday.

In the ODU match, which was senior day for Malone as the squad honored seniors
Brianna Clegg,
Katie Hasebein,
Anna Hays and
Taylor Slauterbeck in a pre-match recognition, the Pioneers were paced on offense by outside hitter
Sarah Brent who tallied a team-best 11 kills. Middle hitter
Elizabeth Maczuzak followed with nine kills. Setter
Jordan Sollars contributed 24 assists in the match while Clegg followed with 17 more. In addition, Hays and
Katie Hasebein chalked up three service aces apiece in the match.

Defensively, middle hitter
Haley Kool and Hays each recorded three block assists while defensive specialist/libero Hasebein racked up 28 digs in the match.

Again, first-round GLIAC postseason action will be held on Wednesday (Nov. 12th) and seedings/pairings will be announced on Sunday.
