Northwood tallied straight-set wins at the top two flights to take a 4-3 lead, bringing the match down to the No. 3 and No. 5 flights.

At No. 3 singles, FitzGerald won the first set before falling in the final two sets to Northwood's Salikh Gilmutdinov, who won 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
