DETROIT --
The Wayne State University baseball team (24-9, 12-5 GLIAC) used an explosive offensive display to take both games of Saturday's doubleheader with Hillsdale (11-23, 9-10 GLIAC). WSU took game one 18-4 behind 15 hits while Alex Kinch collected his third consecutive complete game to take game two, 6-1.

Game One (W, 18-4)
The Green & Gold greeted the visiting Chargers with five runs on three hits and a Hillsdale error in the bottom of the first inning. Starting pitcher Kyle Zimmerman (Frankfort, Mich. ) (5-2) drove in two runs with a double down the left field line, Zach Johnson (Grandville, Mich.) collected an RBI on a sacrifice fly and A.J. The Warriors scored seven runs on two hits as 14 batters came to the plate in the bottom of the third inning. The Chargers issued five walks and plunked three Warriors. In the process, WSU took a 15-1 advantage.

In his only official at-bat of game one, Jeremy Carrell (St. Clair, Mich.) doubled in a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Carrell continued to be a magnet for the baseball, wearing four pitches including two in the first inning. After setting the program record last year, Carrell has been 18 times this season.

Chris Gebara (Troy, Mich.) and Dennis Olszewski (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Gabriel Richard) both collected RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth inning to give WSU an 18-2 lead.

Griffin Harms (Bingham Farms, Mich. / Birmingham Groves) added to the lead with a single into center field in the bottom of the second inning.

Alex Kinch (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Pioneer) (5-1) kept the Chargers off balance all day.  Two runs scored on a Hillsdale throwing error in the bottom of the third inning to give the Warriors a 4-0 lead. Kinch threw just four pitches in the top of the fourth inning with the help of a 4-3 double play.

WSU took a 5 -0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring a run on a rundown between first and second.
