Dragons post win in GLIAC opener

Tiffin University (2-2-1, 1-0 GLIAC) got a clutch goal in the 74th minute and then turned up the defense, clipping Purdue Northwest in their conference opener 2-1.

The Dragons held a 1-0 halftime lead when Darren Appanah scored on a pass from Limamu Mohammed in the 18th minute.

After Purdue Northwest equalized in the 64th minute, TU got the gamewinner in the 74th minute when Travis Simat knocked home a shot after an Alex Wagener shot bounced off the crossbar.

The Dragon defense played well, allowing just 3 shots in the second half, including 2 on goal. Over the final 15 minutes, the Dragons allowed only one shot to be taken, which sailed wide.

Overall TU held a 13-7 shot edge. They also allowed only 3 corner kicks to PNW while taking 7 of their own.

Cary Wilson got the win in goal, making 2 saves over 90 minutes.
