Huskies Knocked Out of GLIAC Tournament by Grand Valley

COLUMBUS, Ohio —  Michigan Tech soccer team was defeated 5-0 by No. 11 Grand Valley State today in a GLIAC Tournament Semifinal at Ohio Dominican's Panther Stadium. The Huskies are now 11-4-2 and will have to hope for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Pairings will be announced Monday (Nov. 10).

The teams played through the first 13 minutes before the Lakers (17-2-1) got on the board with a rebound goal. They added another in the 41st minute for a 2-0 margin at halftime.

GVSU tacked on three more goals in the second half to advance to the GLIAC Tournament Championship.

"Grand Valley was the better team today," said Tech coach Michelle Jacob. "They put us under a lot of pressure, and we struggled to connect passes and create opportunities.

"We're disappointed with today's result, but proud of the season we've had and all the accomplishments along the way."

Final shot totals were 14 for GVSU and 3 for Tech.

Michigan Tech is looking for its second berth into the NCAA Tournament in just the program's fifth year of existence. The NCAA Tournament selection announcement will be made on NCAA.com on Monday at 7 p.m.
