Oilers Make it Two for Two on Second Day of GLIAC/GLVC Crossover

The University of Findlay volleyball team won their second match of the day as they defeated the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds by a 3-2 (27-25, 25-22, 21-25, 18-25, 16-14) final on Saturday, October 18 in Aurora, Illinois. The GLIAC/GLVC Crossover victory pushed Findlay's record to 13-6 on the season.

Freshman Erika Roach led the team as she smashed 17 kills in the five-set victory. Sophomore Hannah Tong played well also as she smashed 13 kills, giving her a total of 41 kills in the last three matches. Tong also had three blocks. Redshirt-freshman Nickyla Garverick was a dual threat as well as she collected 11 kills and added to her GLIAC leading total in blocks with three in the match.

Senior Amanda Calhoun was a key contributor to the offense as she assisted on 48 scoring plays and aced the Greyhounds three times.

Playing well defensively were junior Becca Shoemaker and freshman Megan Wendel who had 13 and nine digs, respectively.

The Oilers will be off until next Friday, October 24 when they will travel down US-224 to take on GLIAC foe, Tiffin University in a match slated to begin at 7pm.
