Oilers Split with Ashland

The University of Findlay softball team split a doubleheader with Ashland University on April 21 in Ashland, Ohio. The Oilers suffered a 7-2 loss in the first game and then won the second game 7-6 to improve to 23-17 on the season with an 11-8 record in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

Jenna Inman took the loss in the first game after allowing five runs, only three earned in 2.2 innings of work. The offense was led by Abby Funk, who went 2-for-3. Lauren Trumpler hit a home run in the contest as well.

In the second game, Morgan Arnold doubled home Trumpler in the bottom of the seventh to give Findlay the win. Trumpler was dominant at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two runs score and a RBI.

Chelsea McManaway was the winning pitcher, allowing six runs on 12 hits in seven innings of work.

The Oilers will return to action again tomorrow when they face Lake Erie in a twin bill in Painesville, Ohio.
