The Tiffin University women's basketball team opened the 2017-18 campaign with a 78-60 loss to the Lake Erie College Storm. Tiffin struggled in the paint and on the boards as the Storm held a 46-32 advantage in rebounds, leading to 34 points in the pain and 17 2nd chance points.

Both teams were active offensively in the 1st quarter, as Tiffin posted 13 points with three of their five made field goals being three pointers. The Dragons' defense allowed 19 points in the quarter as the Storm hit 42.9% of their field goal attempts.

The Dragons' offense remained aggressive in the 2nd quarter, scoring 17 points on 8 of 19 shooting. Tiffin's defense held Lake Erie to under 40% from the field, allowing 15 points while forcing three turnovers. Tiffin headed to the halftime locker room trailing 34-30.

The 3rd quarter was Tiffin's undoing as they allowed 26 points. After Tiffin hit a three to open the half to pull within a point at 34-33, the Storm rolled ahead with the aid of an 11-4 run to hold a 45-37 advantage. Tiffin struggled with ball control in the quarter, committing four turnovers and being out rebounded 12-2. The Dragons headed to the final quarter trailing 60-45.

The Storm held the scoring advantage in the final quarter 18-15, holding Tiffin to 5 of 19 shooting from the field. The lone bright spot was the Dragons' three point shooting, hitting 4 of 8 attempts in the quarter. Tiffin's offense never got back on track in the quarter, and were defeated 78-60 when the final buzzer sounded.

Individually, the Dragons were led by the 21 points of Allie Miller with five of her made field goals being three pointers. Ali Schirmer pitched in 10 points, and newcomer Victoria Burdo scored 10 points against her former team on 4 of 8 shooting.

The Dragons fall to 0-1 and will be back on the hardwood tomorrow at 2:00 pm for a tilt with the University of Findlay.
