Box Score The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team won its season opener on Saturday at Hunter Stadium with a 16-10 victory over Grand Valley State.

After a tight first half, the Lady Lions scored the first seven goals of the second half to break the game open. Lindenwood outshot Grand Valley State by a 33-19 margin in the game, including 18-8 in the final half.

Melissa Smith led Lindenwood with four goals and one assist, and Melissa Menchella had four goals. Erin Abbott had three goals and two assists, while Shelby Polk had three goals and one assist. Maddi Ossello had two goals and Lindsey Palmer had a pair of assists. Christine Hehmeyer played just over 55 minutes in goal and made six saves.

Lindenwood will return to action next Saturday at Hunter Stadium with a 2 p.m. game against Shorter.
