Ashland soars past Dragons 119-74

Tiffin University (5-14, 3-11 GLIAC) ran into a buzzsaw Monday night, as the nation's top women's basketball team, Ashland, came to town. The Eagles lived up to the billing, streaking past TU 119-74.

The Eagles exploded out of the gate, jumping out to a quick 29-10 lead after just 7 minutes. Before the opening quarter was over, Ashland held a 36-17 lead.

The Eagles got 35 more points in the second quarter, taking advantage of TU turnovers to hold a 71-46 halftime edge. TU had 17 turnovers at the half leading to 29 Ashland points. They also held a huge 28-8 edge in the paint.

Ashland continued to dominate in the third quarter, outscoring TU 26-4. While TU was hitting shots (shooting 53 percent in the game), Ashland forced 31 total turnovers and put up 31 more shots in the game en route to shooting 59 percent.

Overall AU held a 48-22 inside scoring edge and a big 22-9 fast break margin. They scored a huge 47 points off turnovers.

TU was led by Bre Nauman and Kristen Massey with 13 points apiece. Ali Schirmer had 12 points, while Sarah Cummings and Deidre McKay also had 10 points each.
