DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's basketball program earned its ninth straight victory on Thursday and improved to 16-3 in the GLIAC with an 80-61 victory over Ferris State University (13-10, 12-8 GLIAC).  The Warriors improved to 18-5 overall. Wayne State has its most victories since the 1994-95 team won 20 games.

With its victory and a Grand Valley loss to Saginaw Valley, WSU also clinched a home playoff game for the first time since 2003.

Freshman Brittany Streetman (Warren, Mich. / Lincoln) scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Warriors. On Senior Night, senior Phaebre Colbert (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forest Hills Northern) put together another stellar effort, notching her fourth straight double-double (19 points, 18 rebounds).

It was a back-and-forth affair early, as the score was tied six times in the first half. After FSU's Ashley Rando connected on a three-pointer to tie the game at 25, Colbert followed with a lay-up on the ensuing possession to give WSU the lead for good in the first half. Streetman scored five points in the final minute of the first half on a triple and lay-up to help give WSU a 41-34 halftime advantage.

Streetman had 13 points in the first half, including knocking down 3-of-4 three-pointers. Colbert also had a double-double by halftime as she had 10 points and 10 rebounds in the first half alone.

WSU scored the first six points in the second half as Streetman and junior Lena Thomas (Bloomfield Twp., Mich. / Bloomfield Hills Andover) each made three-pointers. With the pair of triples, WSU took a 47-34 lead just 1:27 into the second half.

Wayne State would go on to lead by double digits for the rest of the game. Wayne State took a 61-39 lead with 10:47 left after seven straight points, five of which were scored by freshman Stephanie Lock (White Lake, Mich. / Lakeland).

Lock added 10 points for the Warriors as the third member to finish in double figures. Junior Imari Redfield (Detroit, Mich. / Country Day) tallied nine points for WSU. Streetman finished 5-of-8 on three-pointers in just 21 minutes. The Warriors held advantages in rebounding (56-32), points in the paint (38-16) and bench points (44-24).

Wayne State shot 46.8 percent (29-for-62) from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc (9-for-18). Ferris State shot 27.9 percent from the floor (17-for-61).

Sarah DeShone tallied 11 points to lead Ferris State. Ashley Rando posted 10 points off the bench for the Bulldogs.

The Warriors finish the regular season on the road, playing in the first of three away contests Saturday at Grand Valley.
