OAKLAND CITY, Ind.-  The Greyhound baseball team used timely hitting and benefitted from seven Hillsdale errors in a 12-2 win Saturday afternoon.  Tight through five innings, the Greyhounds scored nine runs in the final two frames to get back to .500 on the season.

The Hounds (6-6) got on the board first when back-to-back singles to leadoff the bottom of the second helped give UIndy a quick 2-0 advantage.  Andrew Armour drove them both in with a single up the middle to stake starter Jordan Tiegs to a lead.

Tiegs was in control, allowing just a single run through five innings, battling windy conditions to start the game.  The Hounds gave him one run back in the bottom of the fifth with Adam Akin's second double of the day drove in Justin Russell to reclaim a two-run margin.

Hillsdale had its best threat in the sixth, loading the bases with nobody out on just one hit.  A walk and a hit batter put the Chargers in good position.  A single through the left side kept the bases loaded with the score 3-2 and no outs.  Tiegs rared back and got a strikeout for the first out then followed by inducing an inning-ending double play to end the threat without further damage.

UIndy wasted little time stretching that lead, as Casey Potter drove in two with a liner up the middle for the inning's first runs.  Potter later came around to score on a throwing error as Hilldale's infield came unglued, committing three miscues in the inning.

Trailing 6-2, the Chargers again loaded the bases chasing Tiegs from the game.  With two down and the sacks packed, Ryan Burlas got the next hitter to sky a popup in the middle of the infield, where Travis Capps battled the wind and the mound before making a diving catch to snuff out the rally.

That one out would earn Burlas the save after the Hounds poured on six runs in the bottom of the inning.  Ben Sondgeroth greeted the new Hillsdale pitcher with a sharp single that struck Kris Morris in the leg and ricocheted towards first base for a hit.  A hit by pitch and an error loaded them up and Scott Lawley got an RBI with a fielder's choice, keeping the bases loaded with one down.

Armour added his third RBI of the day with a shot up the box before the Charger defense extended the inning some more with an error.  Justin Russell cashed in the tenth Greyhound run with a single and would score the game-winner when a pair of walks and a wild pitch plated the run, ending the game due to ten-run rule.

Tiegs improved to 2-2 on the season with the win, pitching 6.2 innings, allowing six hits and two runs with three strikes.  Five different Greyhounds chipped-in with two hits apiece.

The Greyhounds will face host Oakland City for a doubleheader Sunday with first pitch at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time.
