The Tiffin University volleyball team showed what they are made of on Friday evening, falling behind the Northwood Timberwolves before reeling off consecutive set victories to down Northwood 3-2.

The first set was one of the longest in recent memory for the Dragons as neither side would give in. The Dragons held a 23-19 lead and looked as if they would take the opening set, but 13 set points later it was Northwood that came out on top 36-34.

Tiffin could have folded after the marathon loss that was set one, but they got off the canvas and came out swinging in the second set. The two sides traded points, but it was Tiffin that made a small run to lead 17-13. Tiffin continued to extend their lead and won the set 25-18. The Tiffin attack was at its finest in the set, committing only one attack error for a match high .341 hitting percentage.

Northwood flexed their muscle in the third set, as the Timberwolves were able to maintain a slim lead before finishing the set on a 13-5 run to down Tiffin 25-15. 

With the Dragons down 2-1, it was do or die time for Tiffin. The Dragons thrived under the pressure and rallied from a five point deficit to tie the set at 20-20. Of Tiffin's final five points in the set, four came on Northwood errors as the Dragons survived to force a fifth set.

The final set was tense and action packed as neither side wanted to give in. After trailing for the vast majority of the set, Tiffin made their move late. With the score tied at 13-13, Tiffin used kills by Amanda Curry, Sydney Gilland, and an attack error by Northwood to complete their comeback and down the Timberwolves 3-2.

Amanda Curry had a career night for Tiffin, swatting a season high 19 kills and posting a .409 hitting percentage to pace the Dragons. Danielle Hicks was a monster at the net as well, clobbering 14 kills. Sydney Gilland added 13 kills for the Dragons, and as a team Tiffin finished with 69 kills. Taylor Lattimore was busy on the defensve end, collecting 37 digs. Jenna Huffman made her presence felt on the defensive end finishing with 21 digs and 5.5 blocks. Emily Weithman led Tiffin in assists with 42 and Loryn Huffman pitched in with 24 assists.

The Dragons move to 12-10 overall and 6-4 in GLIAC play. The Dragons remained tied for second in the GLIAC South and will welcome in nationally ranked Ferris State University tomorrow evening at 5:00 pm.
