Oilers Thump Trojans 85-63

The University of Findlay men's basketball team improved to 2-1 on the season with an 85-63 win over Trevecca Nazarene on Nov. 19 in Nashville, Tenn.

The Oilers shot 49.2 percent (29-of-59) from the floor and canned a season-high 15-of-27 (55.6%) shot attempts from three point range in the victory. They also limited the Trojans to a 39.1 percent (25-of-64) shooting clip and scored 27 points off of 17 Trevecca turnovers.

Junior guard Martyce Kimbrough posted a season-high 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting to lead Findlay. Kimbrough also added three rebounds and made 6-of-9 attempts from long distance.

Junior forward Taren Sullivan also played well and contributed 17 points, five rebounds and three assists while junior guard Elijah Kahlig came off the bench to provide eight points, two rebounds and two assists.

Junior guard Austin Gardner stuffed the stat sheet once again with seven points, eight assists, four rebounds and a pair of steals while senior forward Tyler Stern-Tucker chipped in seven points and three boards in the game.

Sophomore forward Alex White scored only four points, but had a team-high nine rebounds as well. Red-shirt freshman Aaron Overhiser also did some good work on the boards, contributing seven rebounds to go with his three points.

Devin Whitfield led the Trojans with 23 points and ten rebounds.

The Oilers will now return home and prepare to battle Cedarville on Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
