Archived Video BroadcastThe Malone University men's basketball team dropped its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest at home to Lake Superior State University on Thursday night by a final tally of 90-75.
The Lakers stormed out of the gate, scoring 19 of the game's first 21 points. The Pioneers managed to regroup following the tough start, slowly chipping away at the early 19-2 deficit before eventually tying the contest at 33-33 with two minutes remaining in the first half.
LSSU scored the final six points of the opening period to take a 39-33 advantage into the locker room at intermission and then stretched their lead to 45-33 after tallying the first six points of the second half.
Malone twice cut the margin to 10 but was unable to pull within single digits the rest of the way as the Lakers knocked down eight of their 14 three-pointers over the final 20 minutes to secure the 90-75 win and improve to 3-0 in conference play.

Nate Sheppard came off the bench to register a team-high 15 points

Lake Superior State Individual Highlights-Guard Akaemji Williams finished the night with a game-high 32 points (10-17 FG, 4-9 3pt, 8-9 FT) to go with three assists and three steals
-Guard Jordan Dasuqi contributed 21 points after hitting six of 10 attempts from beyond the arc
-Forward Devin Daly notched 18 points, 10 rebounds and four assists

Game Notes-Both teams shot over 50% from the field (Malone 55.1%, LSSU 52.6%)
-The Lakers knocked down 12 of 28 from beyond the arc (42.9%), compared to seven of 22 (31.8%) for Malone
-The Pioneers struggled at the foul line, hitting just 14 of their 26 attempts (53.8%)
