ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (3-4 overall) defeated NAIA opponent St. Francis (Ill.), 6-3, on Friday evening at Oak Street in Orlando, Fla. The Warriors earned three points off defaults.
DOUBLES RESULTS - Freshman
Derek Sammons (Coldwater, Mich.) and junior
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) won by default at the third doubles position.
- Senior
Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France) and sophomore
Luke Ruocco (Lewes, England) fell, 9-7, to Michael Hasler and Anders Sandberg at No. 1 doubles, while the freshman duo of
Nicholas Ang (Rochester, Mich.) and
Jason Potter (Sterling Heights, Mich. / International Academy East) lost, 8-6, to Boris Peshev and Luka Dordevic at the second doubles flight.
SINGLES RESULTS - Ruocco posted a two-set win (6-2, 6-0) over Dordevic at No. 2 singles, while Charriere topped Peshev, 6-3, 6-1, at the first singles flight.
- Reed topped Hasler, 6-1, 6-3, at the third singles position, while Ang and Sammons won by default at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
- Potter fell, 6-3, 6-3, to Sandberg at the fourth singles flight.
UP NEXT - WSU will continue its Spring Break trip on Saturday at Rollins. The match is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
