The Malone University volleyball team earned a 25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21 victory at Walsh University Tuesday evening -- a triumph that gave 16th-year Pioneer head coach
Tanya Hockman her 400th career win at the school.Â
Hockman's record at Malone is now 400-229 and the GLIAC win was the Pioneers' ninth in their last 10 conference matches. Â Malone now stands at 12-12 overall and 9-5 in the GLIAC while Walsh fell to 2-20 overall and to 2-12 in conference play.
A trio of Pioneers amassed 10+ kills in the contest to pace the Malone offense as outside hitter
Sarah Brent led the way with 12 kills. Outside hitter
Anna Hays followed with 11 kills and outside hitter
Shelbi Meek added 10 more. In addition, middle hitter
Haley Kool and outside hitter
Taylor Slauterbeck drilled eight kills each. Setters
Jordan Sollars and
Brianna Clegg offered up 27 and 20 assists, respectively.
Defensively,
Katie Hasebein recorded 33 digs while Slauterbeck followed with 15. Â Middle hitter
Elizabeth Maczuzak recorded a team-best three block assists.
Malone will next compete at GLIAC opponent Hillsdale College (MI) on Friday (Oct. 31) in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
