The Tiffin University baseball team fell 6-0 to Malone University in a non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon, dropping the season series to the Pioneers. Tiffin had no trouble getting runners aboard, but they were unable to find the timely hit to drive them home as the Dragons garnered eight hits and two bases on balls.

The Pioneers pushed a run home in the bottom half of the opening inning, capitalizing on a Tiffin throwing error to lead 1-0. A run scoring single and ground out made it 3-0 Malone after the 2nd inning.

The Dragons had a good scoring opportunity fly by the boards in the 3rd, getting a lead off double from Kyle Vance and single from Kyle Lento to put runners on the corners with no outs. A pair of strikeouts and a caught stealing thwarted the Dragons' chance at a run.

The Pioneers added another run in the 3rd, and two more in the 4th to hold a 6-0 advantage. The Dragons had another chance for a run elude them in the 5th, seeing Ryan Thomas' lead off double die on the vine. The Pioneers kept Tiffin fairly quiet after the 5th, allowing the Dragons only three hits the rest of the way.

Hunter Carson took the loss in a spot start, allowing two earned runs over the course of two innings pitched. The back half of the bullpen threw the ball well, as Michael Ross and Deylen Miley combined to throw three scoreless innings while punching out five. Ryan Thomas was one of the bright spots for Tiffin at the plate, finishing 3 for 4 with a double. Kyle Lento was the only other Dragon to collect multiple hits, finishing 2 for 3.

The Dragons fall to 12-23 overall and will be back in action Friday, welcoming in GLIAC foe Purdue Northwest for a four game set.
