Slow 1st Half Hampers Tiffin in 80-67 Loss

The Tiffin University men's basketball team dug too deep of a 1st half hole to climb out of on Saturday afternoon, allowing 45 1st half points to the Lake Superior State Lakers in an 80-67 loss.

The Dragons fell behind 24-15 in the first ten minutes of action, and the lead slowly grew for Lake Superior State. The Lakers success was due to their perimeter shooting, going 7 of 17 from three while the Dragons hit only three triples in the 1st half. With five minutes left before halftime, Tiffin pulled to within two points at 31-29. The Lakers countered with a 14-2 run to close the half and lead 45-31 at the break.

The 2nd half was more of the same for both teams as the Dragons could get no closer than 11 points. Tiffin did outscore the Lakers 36-35 as the Dragons hit seven triples in the 2nd half. Tiffin's defense held the Lakers to 27.3% shooting from deep and forced seven turnovers in the 2nd half. Offensively Tiffin committed only four turnovers in the 2nd half and hit 40.6% of their field goals. 

The Dragons were led by Alex Brown with a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Luke Rightnowar came off the bench to score 12 points on 4 of 9 shooting. Justin Miller continued to score in double digits with 11 points and three made triples. Shane Waldon added 10 points, shooting 50% from the field.

Tiffin falls to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the GLIAC.
