Baseball Swept by Grand Valley

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Wayne State University baseball team (13-7, 2-3 GLIAC) dropped the series finale with #12/26 Grand Valley (13-5, 4-0 GLIAC), 3-0, on Saturday. The Lakers pitching continued to give the WSU offense fits as the Warriors scored just one run on nine hits during the three games.

Patrick Kelly (2-2) was the latest GVSU pitcher to toss a gem. Kelly collected a complete game, allowing four hits with four strikeouts and no walks. WSU went down in order in six of its nine at bats.

Giancarlo Brugnoni gave the Lakers a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double. GVSU extended its lead to 3-0 with a run in the third and fourth innings.

Starter Chris Horvath (Windsor, Ont. / St. Anne Catholic) (1-2) was replaced by Jimmy Jackson (Battle Creek, Mich. / Pennfield) in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Jackson threw four scoreless innings with four strikeouts and one walk.
